India Extends Suspension on International Passenger Flights Till August 31. Check Details

International Flights Update:   Owing to the growing concerns over possible threat of third wave of Covid-19, India has decided to extend the Covid-related travel ban on international passenger flights till August 31. However, the cargo operations have been exempted. The international travel ban has been once again extended from its previous deadline of July 31, 2021, in the wake of the rising cases of the Delta variant of coronavirus in various countries. Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a circular issued Friday, July 30, said the international flights ban shall remain in place till 2359 hrs IST of August 31 2021. Delhi Rains: Water Level in Yamuna River Breaches Danger Mark, Alert Issued | Watch Video

New Delhi: The Delhi government has sounded a flood alert and expedited efforts to evacuate people living in the Yamuna flood plains after the water level in the river breached the danger mark of 205.33 metres amid heavy rains in the upper catchment areas, officials said. All the departments concerned have been alerted. The irrigation and flood control department has deployed 13 boats in different areas and put 21 others on standby, the official from the irrigation and flood control department said. The water level was recorded at 205.34 metres at the Old Railway Bridge at 11 am. Pegasus Snooping Row: Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Plea Next Week

New Delhi: Amid the row over the Pegasus spyware report, the Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a plea seeking a direction for an independent probe by its sitting or retired judge into the alleged snooping scandal. The plea was filed by veteran journalists N Ram and Sashi Kumar. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal mentioned the matter before a bench headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and Justice Surya Kant stating that civil liberties of citizens, politicians, belonging to Opposition parties, journalists, and court staff have been put under surveillance. Amid Border Row, Assam Govt Orders Checking Of All Vehicles Coming From Mizoram

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing inter-state border row, the Assam government has issued a notification stating that all vehicles entering the state from Mizoram will be checked, in order to check the trafficking of ‘illicit drugs’. This comes days after five police personnel of Assam police and a civilian were killed in an unprecedented gunfight between the two (Assam and Mizoram) police forces. Defending its decision to check vehicles from Mizoram, the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government claimed that  912 cases have been registered and 1,560 persons arrested within a span of two months. It added that huge quantities of illicit drugs were also confiscated. Delhi Govt to Takeover Bal Bharati School in Rohini Over Arbitrary Fee Hike

New Delhi: The Directorate of Education of Delhi Government said that it will take over the management of Bal Bharati School in Rohini over alleged arbitrary fee hike and has received the required approvals from the Lieutenant Governor’s office, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Thursday. The Delhi government had issued orders several times to withdraw the arbitrarily increased fees by the school, but the school management has failed every time to comply with these orders. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had approved the proposal of the Directorate of Education to take over the management of Bal Bharati School. This file was sent to the LG, which has now been approved, Delhi government said in statement. “If any school increases fees arbitrarily then strict action will be taken against it,” he added in an official statement.
